7 Signs Your Business Website Needs a Redesign

Your website might look fine to you. But if it isn’t bringing in calls, bookings or enquiries, it may be quietly costing you business. Here are seven signs it’s time for a redesign.

1. It’s hard to use on a phone

Pinch-and-zoom text, tiny buttons, menus that don’t open properly: if your site is awkward on a phone, most of your visitors are having a bad time. Test it yourself on your own phone right now.

2. It’s slow

If your pages take several seconds to load, people leave before they see anything. Speed also affects how your site performs in search. Oversized images, old themes and too many plugins are the usual culprits.

3. You can’t update it yourself

If changing your hours or adding a photo means emailing a developer and waiting a week, your site will fall out of date. A modern site should let you make simple edits in minutes.

4. It doesn’t show up on Google

If you search for your main service and your area and can’t find yourself, your site probably isn’t built with search in mind. Missing page titles, thin content, no service pages and slow load times all hold sites back.

5. It looks dated

Design trends change, and customers notice. A tired-looking site can make a great business look like it’s no longer operating, or not worth the price.

6. Visitors don’t know what to do next

Every page should make the next step obvious: call, book, get a quote. If your phone number is buried or your contact form is hard to find, you’re losing leads.

7. Your business has changed but your site hasn’t

New services, new areas, new prices, new focus. If your website still describes the business you were five years ago, it’s sending the wrong people the wrong message.

Redesign or start fresh?

Sometimes a few fixes are enough; sometimes a rebuild is faster and cheaper in the long run. A technical SEO audit is a good way to find out, because it shows exactly what’s wrong and what’s worth keeping.

Protect your rankings during a redesign

If your current site already ranks for anything, a redesign needs care. Keep your best content, set up redirects from old URLs to new ones, and don’t launch without checking titles, headings and page speed. A careless redesign can wipe out years of rankings overnight.

We build new sites and redesigns starting at $2,500, with SEO built in from launch.
